Top 4 July Trends of 2012

So what exactly are the trends of this month? Here are some of the top fashion trends of July 2012.

1. Floral Print
Come on, you gotta love floral! I remember being a kid, maybe 8 years old. My grandma used to wear this shirt with (which I thought was downright ugly) floral print. She wore it all the time and it made me so embarrassed! But the other day, I was walking through my local Walmart and I came upon some awesome floral shorts. I pointed them out to my friend and she was like "Ew!". But seriously, floral is totally in right now.

High-waisted is also a plus!

2. Neon
I'm not really sure I favor this trend, but it's all about bright and bold this summer! You'll notice a lot of clothing on store shelves are neon orange, pink, green, blue, and yellow. I'm guessing this is more of a teenage fad. Maybe I just don't like it because I'm pasty...you gotta pretty tan to pull off neon clothing.

Neon dresses are HOT right now....the brighter the better!

3. Statement necklace
Again, back to that bold statement! To be "in style" this summer you're going to need a statement necklace - a necklace with a chunky centerpiece! It doesn't necessarily need to be colorful, but it's gotta bring attention. In fact, the more metallic the better. Add a shine to your style! My favorite statement necklaces are ones with geometric shapes. It keeps things interesting.

Obviously this necklace is huge! Just an example of how bold necklaces can get!

4. Sheer Clothing
Basically with this trend, you just need something transparent or "see through". Wear it over one of your best brightly colored tops. Keep it modest, girls! ;) You can also purchase sheer dresses which look really funky! I love them, but again you need to wear something under it!

Sheer is sexy! Add some heels to make it sexier.

Hi everyone! I'm Ashley and I am one of the owners of AshleyAnnJewelry - a shop on Etsy. We make eco-friendly jewelry made with hemp cord and other material such as gorgeous glass beads and pendants. We opened in May of 2012 and have participated in a silent auction where we sold our jewelry to raise money for local no-kill animal shelters.

This is me and my son, Preston. I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and this is also where I have been raising my son. He is 10 months old now...they grow so fast! My little man keeps me on my toes. It's hard to balance this business and be a stay at home mom a the same time, but it's so worth it because I cherish the time I spend with him. Everyone keeps telling me "Next thing you know, he'll be asking for the car keys!" I dread that day!


I have chosen to start this blog to keep track of not only my own milestones for my personal life and for my shop, but also to show the web world all of the awesome shops there are on Etsy. There are TONS! It's amazing what people can create with their two hands. Home decor, jewelry, wall art, etc. Not only that, but I like to keep up with the monthly trends, too. DIY (Do it yourself crafts) are so big right now so I'd like to do some research and bring cool ideas to your home. It's so fun to be able to sit down and do crafts with kids too; get them away from the TV and computer to use their hands. Don't be afraid to get dirty with some crafts...they can get messy but those crafts are the most fun.
